Identify the importance of adherence and medication monitoring in behavioral health
Explain quality metrics and impact to the payer and patient care
Describe how a pharmacist-led disease therapy management program can impact behavioral health HEDIS measures
Session Description: According to the CDC, about 1 in 25 US adults live with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression. The importance of medication adherence for patients receiving treatment with antidepressants and antipsychotics is undeniable; however, rates of both medication adherence and recommended metabolic monitoring for this population are often consistently low. Quality metrics have been created to address these gaps, but additional intervention is still needed to close the gaps. This presentation will review how a pharmacist-led disease therapy management program can improve medication adherence and monitoring and corresponding HEDIS measure scores in the behavioral health population.
